Headline: Israel stays open as the Gulf war grinds on elsewhere — a routine US Embassy caution (17 July: increased caution; avoid Gaza, the northern border strip and the Egypt border except Taba; reconfirm flights — no advisory-level change, consular sections open), a returning German carrier (Eurowings Düsseldorf from 18 July, after Hamburg on 10 July), and a two-day countdown to the 21 July Ben Gurion tanker drawdown.
Regional: the US–Iran ceasefire remains lapsed; 17 July exchanges hit bridges in Iran (US strikes) and a desalination plant in Kuwait (Iranian strike). The fighting stays concentrated in the Gulf and on US regional bases — not on Israel. Israel–Petra combinations continue to carry the exposed Jordanian leg.
