ETA-IL — Electronic Travel Authorization
Mandatory pre-travel authorization for visa-exempt travellers to Israel.
⚡ Key points
- Mandatory since 1 Jan 2025 for all visa-exempt travellers (US, EU, UK, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and more).
- Fee ₪25 (~$7) · valid 2 years (or to passport expiry) · 90 days per visit · multiple entries.
- Apply only at israel-entry.piba.gov.il — unofficial sites charge inflated fees ($30–$80+).
- Processing up to 72h (often faster); apply at least 7 days ahead; each traveller applies individually.
- Passport must be valid 90+ days beyond arrival.
🎯 Key insights
- The ETA-IL is a boarding gate, not just an entry stamp — without it airlines deny boarding; an unprepared client becomes an operator liability.
- The real-world failure points are scam sites and last-minute applications — both eliminated with clear client instructions.
- Make ETA-IL confirmation a gating checkpoint in the booking workflow.
⚠ Use only the official portal (israel-entry.piba.gov.il). Many commercial sites charge inflated fees. The official fee is ₪25.
